Plot No: 2184, Kisemvule Industrial Area Mkuranga, Pwani Region United Republic of Tanzania +255 620 250 911 [email protected] www.drafcogroup.co.tz Founded in 2018, Drafco Group Limited is an absorbent hygiene product manufacturer located in the Pwani Region of Tanzania. Drafco manufactures essential hygienic and sanitary products such as baby diapers, sanitary pads and face masks. The company was formed following the demands from new mothers for safe and hygienic maternal pads in Tanzania. Production of the company’s Lili Maternity Pads and Lili Lady Sanitary Pads began in 2018. Lili Lady Sanitary Pads are made using a biodegradable nonwoven fabric. This fabric is not only healthy for skin but also helps to prevent skin irritation and rashes, the company says. Lili Lady pads are designed long and thick enough to absorb a heavy menstrual flow, giving women the confidence to move long distances and to be comfortable overnight without worry. Meanwhile, Drafco’s Lili Maternity Pads are made for new mothers after giving birth. The are purposely made wingless, smooth and very affordable in a pack of 18 pads, each infused with medically approved SAP to ensure comfort during the healing process of a new mother. In baby care, Drafco’s Baby Cheeky Diapers are made of high-quality nonwoven fabric and a compostable fluff pulp. The breathable baby diapers feature super absorbent polymers, a powder that instantly converts into a gel after getting into contact with a liquid or moisture. This allows for rapid reaction preventing throw back, which could cause any form of rash or irritation on a baby’s skin. For baby’s easy movement, rotation and comfort, Cheeky diapers are made with a high-quality acquisition-distribution layer (ADL) which allows for the even spread of moisture across the diaper. This balances the weight of the diaper and provides comfort for the baby, making it easy for it to move, crawl, or rotate in its crib without any excess weight in one particular part of the diaper. Baby Cheeky Diapers also feature special leakage preventive layers. In 2020, the coronavirus resulted in many countries going into lock downs. Witnessing such a huge insufficiency in the supply of face masks, and the big risk at which developing countries were put, Drafco Group Limited felt obligated to join the world in the fight against the spread of the deadly virus. The company’s board of directors reacted by buying a face mask production machine, which at the time the company had no other choice of transporting the machine and raw materials from Turkey than by air. The transportation was unbelievably expensive, but the company’s heart to support was bigger than the cost itself. After having difficulty finding technicians to assemble the machine in Tanzania, but determined to protect the lives of millions of Tanzanians, the company made another expensive decision of hiring engineers from abroad to assemble and run the machine. After nearly three months of setbacks and limited resources, the company managed to manufacture and provide high quality protective face masks to Tanzanians and nearby countries at very affordable prices. Drafco also aspires to make positive contributions to its local communities and to the nation at large. In a bid to help school girls to continue with school without interruptions, the company has partnered with several education-based non-profit organizations to provide menstrual health education as well as free Lili Sanitary Pads to school girls.
